Common Name: Bucephalandra Kapuas

Bucephalandra Kapuas is a compact epiphyte featuring dark, moody foliage and a subtle metallic sheen. This Buce variant displays narrow, ruffled oval-shaped leaves that range from deep green to brownish hues, often developing richer coloration under stronger lighting. Ideal for nano tanks, shrimp setups, and detailed hardscape work, Bucephalandra Kapuas adds texture and depth without overwhelming a layout. A reliable choice for aquascapers looking for hardy structure and understated color contrast.

Like other epiphytic aquatic plants, Kapuas grows from a rhizome and should be attached to rock or driftwood. It thrives in low to medium light and does well in both low-tech aquascapes and CO2-injected aquariums. While growth is slow, stable water parameters and regular fertilization will encourage fuller, healthier clumps over time.

Notes:

  • Bucephalandra is an epiphytic aquarium plant, and prefers to be attached to aquarium hardscape.
  • Do not cover the rhizome when planting the Bucephalandra in substrate. This will cause melt and rot.
  • Please be sure to remove this plant from its pot. Remove the rockwool surrounding the roots and attach it to the hardscape. For instructions on how to properly prep "potted" aquarium plants, click here.
  • Bucephalandra’s final size, coloration, and growth rate are dependent upon the condition of the aquarium.
  • Photos are a representation of what you will receive and may vary.
  • Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters can result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
  • CO2 injection will yield better growth.
  • Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.
